Local Lions Club Donates to Dover Toy Drive and Inspires Support from Fellow Clubs

The Lions Club of Dover, Rollinsford, and South Berwick in addition to donating $500 to the Dover NH Firefighters Charitable Association, challenged neighboring Lions Clubs to join the cause, prompting Lions Club District 44H to initiate a district-wide effort to support the Dover Christmas Toy Drive. The response was overwhelming, with clubs across the district stepping up to donate both funds and toys. The initiative began after a tragic incident destroyed the holiday toy inventory intended for local children.

Thanks to this collective effort, hundreds of toys and over $3,300 in donations were raised for the Firefighters Charitable Association. This remarkable contribution was presented at the November 10th Cabinet Meeting at the Castleton Conference Center in Windham, NH.

Jennifer Halteman, President of the Dover Rollinsford and South Berwick Lions Club, expressed her gratitude: “We are thrilled by the response of our district Lions Clubs in supporting our community during this time of need. They truly embody our motto, ‘We Serve.’”

Those interested in helping restock the Dover Fire Toy Bank can donate new, unwrapped toys or games for children ages newborn to 12, which can be dropped off at any of Dover’s three fire stations. Checks can also be mailed to DPFFA, PO Box 1004, Dover, NH, made payable to 'Dover Firefighters Charitable Association' with 'Toy Bank' in the memo line.

The Lions Club of Dover, Rollinsford and South Berwick is a member of the Lions Club International, which began in 1917.  Their motto is “We Serve.”  The club gathers on the first and third Wednesdays of each month at Cara Irish Pub in Dover to find ways to improve their community.
