Southern NH Ukulele Group to Host Beginner Workshop with Zebra Crossings
January 31, 2025DOVER, NH – The Southern New Hampshire Ukulele Group (SNHUG) is excited to present a Beginner Ukulele Workshop and Performance in partnership with Zebra Crossings on Saturday, February 24, at 10 AM at the McConnell Community Center in Dover. Leading the workshop is Jenny Stuart, a seasoned musician, instructor, and dedicated SNHUG performer.
Zebra Crossings is a nonprofit organization committed to enriching the lives of youth with chronic medical conditions. In 2024, SNHUG organized 120 events and 24 beginner workshops, helping to introduce countless new players to the joy of music. With a library of 40 ukuleles, SNHUG provides hands-on instruction, covering the basics of holding, tuning, and playing—all within the first hour!

SNHUG welcomes players of all skill levels—from complete beginners to seasoned performers—with no attendance obligations. To date, the group has raised over $109,000 for charity, primarily benefiting the Ukulele Kids Club (UKC), which provides instruments and music therapy to hospitalized children. The UKC has distributed over 16,000 ukuleles worldwide, including to 30 hospitals across New England. Studies show that music therapy is a powerful tool for physical, cognitive, and emotional rehabilitation in children.
